IT'S FUNNY, WE ALL LOVE CHRISTMAS, BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH RELIGION. MY WIFE AND I WORK AT THE SAME COMPANY, FRIENDS OF OURS AT WORK, ARE MUSLIM FROM AFGHANISTAN. THEY HAVE JUST HAD A BABY. THEY ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE ANYONE COULD EVER MEET. THEY PUT UP A TREE AND DECORATIONS IN THEIR HOME. THEY LOVE THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS. I'M AN AGNOSTIC OR ATHEIST OR WHATEVER, I LOVE CHRISTMAS, AND IT'S MEANING TO ME.
I REALIZE IN OUR FAMILY THAT THE TREE AND DECORATIONS ARE SYMBOLIC. THEY ARE TOTEMS REPRESENTING OUR PAST AND CONNECTIONS TO OUR PAST. THIS YEAR I PUT A SMALL TRAIN SET AROUND THE TREE. I REALIZED AFTER I DID IT, THAT IT WAS MY TOTEM, AN HONOUR TO MY PARENTS.
MY FATHER IS 85 TODAY, HE BOUGHT TWO TRAIN SETS IN ABOUT 1954, I, WE, STILL HAVE THESE TOY TRAINS. THEY ARE NOT JUST TOY TRAINS. THEY REPRESENT A FAMILY LINK, A HISTORY, A TOTEM. BY MY PUTTING THESE TOY TRAINS AROUND OUR TREE IT IS MY GIFT OF HONOUR TO MY PARENTS.

A FEW MUSICIAN FRIENDS HAVE STARTED TO COME OUT. IT'S A LIBERATING EXPERIENCE. ROB MCGIVEN WAS THE FIRST, WHO ADMITTED TO ME THE OTHER DAY HE STILL HAD HIS N GAUGE TRAINS AT HIS SISTER'S AND IS GOING TO RETRIEVE THEM AND BUILD A LAYOUT IN HIS GARAGE, THEN ROB ASKEW, BASSIST WITH "THE NEXT BEST THING" SAYS HE STILL HAS A LARGE N GAUGE LAYOUT IN HIS GARAGE, AND NOW KEITH HERBERT, HAS ADMITTED HE LIKES MODEL TRAINS, JUST LIKE GOMEZ ADAMS, BUT HE HASN'T COME CLEAN COMPLETELY, AS HE USED AN ALIAS TO TELL ME, AND HE WORKS FOR A RAIL COMPANY' AND DENIES HE LIKES IT. YEH SURE KEITH. THE REST OF US ENVY YOU! SO COME ON TRAIN SPOTTERS AND ALL RAIL GEEKS COME OUT INTO THE SUN.

I HAD MODEL TRAINS TOO, AND PLAYED WITH THEM UNTIL I DISCOVERED GIRLS.
RECENTLY, MY FATHER, WHO THROWS NOTHING AWAY, PULLED OUT MY ORIGINAL "O" SCALE LOCOS, STILL IN PRISTINE CONDITION 50 SOMETHING YEARS LATER. THE BUG BIT AGAIN, I SCOURED EBAY FOR TRACK AND TRANSFORMERS AND ROLLING STOCK AND NOW I'M PLANNING TO INCORPORATE A LARGE TRAIN LAYOUT IN THE RECORDING STUDIO. HOW GEEKY CAN YOU GET?
BELOW ARE MY SAKAI EB CLASS LOCOS FROM CIRCA 1953. THESE BEAUTIFUL TINPLATE ENGINES WERE MADE IN POST WAR JAPAN AND WERE MODELLED ON REAL LOCOS INTRODUCED IN THE 1930'S. I HAVE JUST FOUND THE ORIGINAL CARS TO GO WITH THEM ON EBAY U.S. FOR ONLY $22.50!
ROD STEWART IS A MAJOR MODEL TRAIN GEEK, WITH ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING LAYOUTS IN THE WORLD.
FORMER FLYING CIRCUS GUITARIST, JAMES WYNNE, HAS BEEN A PAINTER OF TRAIN SCENES FOR MANY YEARS, ABOVE ARE TWO OF HIS BEAUTIFUL WORKS.

Robbie Williams is hunting for underwater aliens on a jet ski.
The reclusive pop star is hoping to spot USOs, or Unidentified Submerged Objects, which have been spotted in the waters of Malibu, off the coast of California.
Robbie is quoted as saying: "I heard of these sightings at Malibu of things going into the water. I thought it would be quite exciting to be on a very small object very high over the ocean floor, knowing there might be something down there.
"We're renting some jet skis and going from Marina Del Ray to the island of Catalina."
Robbie - who claims to have had three alien encounters during his life - also revealed his interest in the supernatural comes from his mother.
He added: "I was raised in a house where my mum was very much into Tarot cards. She did readings and consulted psychics. I've been around all kinds of myths and legends, I've been actively encouraged to indulge in this kind of stuff and I've been interested in it for a very long time."
Robbie, 34, has also converted his girlfriend, American actress Ayda Field, into believing in extraterrestrial life.
Ayda, 29, said: "It has changed my perspective on the world. Once you're exposed to it, it's impossible to go back to thinking about things in the same way."
Robbie has reportedly camped at a number of UFO hotspots over the course of this year, in his bid to uncover extraterrestrial life.
He has talked of one alien encounter when a "square thing" passed 300 feet above his head while he relaxed on a sun lounger at the Beverley Hills hotel in California. Another was in a California studio while he was playing a song he wrote about alien contact called Arizona.
In September, Michael C. Luckman - the director of the New York Centre for Extraterrestrial Research - said he believed Robbie was a "point man" for aliens and could be abducted at any time.
